7. Story of a Lawyer

Once there was a famous criminal lawyer . He was very loyal towards his duty . Once a time , while he was arguing in the court , someone came to him and handed a piece of paper to him . He read it and looked disturbed for a moment but soon calmed down and continued with the argument . He won the case . When the case was over . His friend asked , “something serious?” He replied , “my wife has passed away , I am going home” . The friend was shocked and said , “How could you continue with the argument in that situation” . He replied , “I had no option . My wife could not have come back , but my client would have been sentenced to death if I had left at that time”. Similarly , one should not focus on what you have lost rather one should focus on what you can gain . We should not let negativity get heavy on us , and should always keep working with a positive attitude .

6. Coffee & Cups

A group of highly educated students visited their old university professor . Conversation soon turned into complaint about stress in work and life . Offering them coffee , Professor returned from kitchen with a pot of coffee and an assortment of cups – porcelain , glass , crystal , some plain looking , some expensive , some exquisite – telling them to help themselves to hot coffee .

When all had a cup of coffee in hand , the professor said : “If you noticed , all the nice looking expensive cups were taken up, leaving behind the plain ones . While it’s but normal for you to want only the best , that’s also the source of your stress . What you really wanted was coffee , not the cup , but you still went for the best cups and we’re eyeing each other’s cup!” If life is coffee , then jobs , money and status in society are the cups . They are just tools to hold and contain life . Don’t let the cups drive you . Enjoy the coffee .

5. Obstacles & Opportunities

Once there was a wealthy and curious king . The king had a huge boulder placed in the middle of a road . Then , he hid nearby to see if anyone would try to remove the gigantic rock from the road . The first people to pass by were some of the king’s wealthiest merchants and courtiers . Rather than moving it , they simply walked around it . A few loudly blamed the King of not maintaining the roads . Not anyone of them tried to move the boulder .

Finally , a peasant came there , his arms were full of vegetables . He put down  his load and tried to move the stone to the side of the road . It took a lot of efforts and he finally succeeded . Then the peasant saw a purse lying on the road where the boulder had been . He opened the purse . The purse was stuffed full of gold coins and a note from the king . The king’s note said the purse’s gold was a reward for moving the boulder from the road . The king showed the peasant what many of us never understand that every obstacle presents an opportunity to improve our condition . We just need to put some efforts and grab the opportunity . Never forget that hard work always pay off .

4. Focus

Once upon a time Swami Vivekanand was in America . One day he saw some boys , they were standing on the bridge and trying to shoot at egg shells , that was floating through the river . But they always missed the target . Then , Swami Ji took the gun and aimed at the shells . He fire twelve times and every time he hit an egg shell . The boys asked Swamiji , “how did you do this ?” . Swamiji replied , “whatever you are doing , You should put your whole mind on it . If you are shooting , Your mind should be only on target , then you will never miss the target . If you are learning your lesson , think only of the lesson” .

3. Self – Worth

One day , a popular speaker was speaking in a seminar . A crowd of 200 gathered to listen to his speech . He took out a ₹2000 note from his pocket and asked ,”who would like to have this?” 200 hands were raised . Then , he dropped the note on ground and crushed it with his shoes . He picked the note and showed the same to the crowd , it was all crumbled and dirty . He asked again ,”Do you still want it?” All the hands again raised up .

The speaker said ,”I have just showed you a very important lesson . No matter what I did to this note , you still wanted it , because it still worth the same 2000 bucks . Same way ,  our life is full of ups and downs , happiness and sadness , hard times and good times . So , we shouldn’t let any bad experiences affect us negatively . We shouldn’t allow any harsh situation to dull our self worth . Know your self worth , never let anyone bring you down . Because amazing things happen when you realize your self worth .

2. The Elephant Story

Once there was a man passing the road and saw elephants tied up with a thin rope . He suddenly stopped , confused by the fact that these huge creatures were being held by only a small rope tied to their front leg . He asked the trainer that why these animals just stood there and made no attempt to get away .

The trainer said ,

“when they were much smaller , we used the same size rope to tie them at that age , it was enough to hold them at that time . Now , they are conditioned to believe that they couldn’t break the chain . They believe that the same thin rope could  still hold them , so they never try to break free” .

The man was amazed . These animals could set themselves free anytime but because they believed they couldn’t , they were stuck right where they are . Same as elephants , many of us go through life hanging onto a belief that we couldn’t do something , simply because we failed at it once before .  Therefore , the moral is – never question your ability , you can do the wonders . You just have to set yourselves free from the boundaries of your own mind . Because there is nothing which could stop you , but your own inner self . Just train your mind to fight .

1. Story of a Monk

Once there was a monk , who lived in a village . He was famous for his dance which used to cause rain . Once a day , four boys came to the same village from a city . They came to know about the magical dance of monk , but they couldn’t believe that how a man could  make it to rain by dancing . Out of curiosity , they asked the monk to dance and call the rain . But , the monk asked them to dance first and try if they could bring the same magic . One by one all of them danced , but there was no sign of rain . Then , the monk started dancing , he danced for an hour but nothing happened .

But , he didn’t stop dancing . He continued to dance for four hours and suddenly weather started to change and it’s raining . The boys were shocked to see it raining and asked him the secret of his magic . The monk replied , ‘the secret of his magic is belief’ . He started dance with a belief that it is going to be rain and he wouldn’t stop untill it’s raining . It is the power of belief that causes things to happen in our life . So , never stop until you are done because one day your hard work is going to pay off . You just have to put continues efforts and believe in your hard work to reach your goal .
